"Iran's history is not written, it's woven." — Nafir
Nafir is a graffiti artist working at the intersection of street culture and Persian tradition. Using hand-knotted carpets as canvas, he creates large-format portrait works that challenge gender norms and demand freedom of expression in Iran.
Each piece begins on the street — a stencil, a spray can — and ends as a textile object dense with history, ornament, and protest.
